China Will Rely On Self-Developed Intellectual Property Rights to Enhance Core Competitiveness of Manufacturing Industry |

Recently, we have learned from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China that the NDRC has issued the Notice on Implementation of a Major Project Package for Improving the Core Competitiveness of the Manufacturing Industry, which points out the need to get hold of core technology with self-developed intellectual property rights to enhance the core competitiveness of the manufacturing industry.
It is understood that in order to accelerate the transformation and upgrade of the manufacturing industry, the NDRC has developed and issued the Three-Year Action Plan for Improving the Core Competitiveness of the Manufacturing Industry (2015-2017), which is intended to accelerate and promote the transformation and upgrade of the Chinese manufacturing industry so that it can change from being ¡°big¡± to being ¡°strong¡±. The goal is to achieve breakthroughs in a number of key technologies, acquire self-developed intellectual property rights, and realize industrialization in key fields such as rail transit equipment within a short period of time. Fourth Amendment of Patent Law: Strengthening Service System Construction to Ensure Innovation-driven Development |

During the course of consultation for the fourth amendment of the Patent Law of China, people from various circles all emphasized that the IPR public service capabilities and IPR service system should be improved, and it is urgently necessary to ensure and support innovation-driven development by perfecting the legal system, which shows the importance of building the IPR service system.
The fourth amendment of the Patent Law is not only necessary for the intensified reform and economic and social development of China, but also an intrinsic requirement for strengthening IPR protection, improving the capability of independent innovation, accelerating the transformation of the economic development mode, and implementing the innovation-driven development strategy. State Intellectual Property Office Entered into Cooperation Agreement with Malaysian Intellectual Property Office |

A few days ago, at the invitation of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office, the delegation led by He Zhimin, Deputy Director of the State Intellectual Property Office of China, paid a visit to Malaysia. They had a meeting with Shamsiah Binti Kamaruddin, Director of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office, and entered into the Agreement on Cooperation between the State Intellectual Property Office of the People¡¯s Republic of China and the Intellectual Property Office of Malaysia in the Intellectual Property Field.
This cooperation agreement is the first framework cooperation agreement between the intellectual property authorities of the two countries, and the two parties agree to exchange information and experience with regard to IPR strategy, formulation and implementation of laws, regulations and policies, and major issues on international IPR, and to engage in cooperation in various fields such as IPR approval and authorization, staff training, human resources development, IPR financial services, information technology development and application, data and documentation exchange, patent information public services, IPR publicity, as well as genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folk literature and art. Leaders from Beijing Industrial and Commercial Administration Visited Unitalen for Inspection and Research |

On the morning of August 28, the delegation led by Sun Jiansheng, Deputy Director of Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce, Sun Kaoli, Director of Trademark Administration Office, and Zhao Xiaojian, Deputy Director of Trademark Administration Office, visited Unitalen for inspection and research purposes, in the company of Unitalen Director Yu Zehui and heads of relevant departments.
After visiting the working area of Unitalen, the delegation listened to the introduction given by President Yu Zehui on the company and its business development, and had a discussion with the heads of relevant departments with respect to specific issues.
During the discussion, the delegation fully recognized the outstanding contribution of Unitalen with respect to trademark protection and development in Beijing over the years. 2014 Annual Report on Patent Agency in Beijing was Released, and Unitalen Continued to Rank First Again in Invention Patent Application Volume |

Recently, the Municipal Intellectual Property Office released the Annual Report on Patent Agency in Beijing for 2014, which shows statistics and appraisal results with regard to the entities, staff and business operation of the citywide IPR industry.
After ranking first in total patent agency volume in 2012 and 2013, Unitalen ranks second in the total business volume of patent agencies, and ranks first again in total invention volume in 2014. Unitalen was rated as an Excellent Agency of the Year once again.
Beijing Intellectual Property Office releases the Annual Report on Patent Agency every year, which shows the overall condition and development trend of the Beijing patent agency industry from such perspectives as overall condition of the citywide patent agencies, business operation, training of patent agents, qualification examination, industry milestones, etc. All data in the annual report comes from the entity information published by the State Intellectual Property Office, the Patent Agency Newsletter prepared by the Treaty and Regulations Department of the State Intellectual Property Office, the annual inspection data submitted by the patent agencies, and the patent application and authorization data in Beijing.
It is noteworthy that the ¡°Hope Primary School in Dongjingji Town funded by Unitalen¡± was rated as a milestone in the patent agency industry for 2014, and this is also the 10th Hope Primary School funded by Unitalen. |
