Gu Ping from Unitalen, As the Only Chinese Lawyer, Invited to the ITC Litigation and the Enforcement Summit On Section 337 and Gave A Enlightening Speech |

In recent years, trade barriers become more and more lethal, compared to anti-dumping. Section 337, conducted by United States International Trade Commission (USITC), appears to be a wide-ranging and magical wand. The commission is responsible for stopping imports infringing U.S. intellectual property rights from entering United Stated and prohibiting sales for import or sales in the United States. U.S. patentee can bring complaint to the USITC. Once the trade is determined illegal, ITC may issue injunctions requesting the U.S. Customs and Border Defense to prevent infringing imports from entering the United States. Provided that infringing products are found in the United States, USITC may also issue injunctions to prevent them to be sold in the United States...
In order to have the enterprises to know 337 litigation and enforcement better and facilitate communication with the USITC and to actively reply to USITC litigation, the ITC 337 Litigation and Enforcement Summit was held in New York on February, 24-26. As the highest level 337 litigation summit in recent years, it is the second forum held by American Conference Institute and the USITC Bar Association. Ms. Gu Ping, a partner of Unitalen, as the only lawyer representative from China, was invited to participate in the summit and deliver a speech. Related representatives from INTA, including Chairmen Shara Aranoff, Chief Administrative Judge Paul J. Luckern, Administrative Judge Theodore R. Essex and Robert K. Rogers , Legal Director of USITC James M. Lyons and Director Lynn I. Levine form Unfair Import Investigations Division were also invited to address the ceremony.
Representatives from Qualcomm, Broadcom, GE, 3M, Sun, Sony, Samsung, LG and other well-known companies, as well as legal counsels from some Taiwan companies also attended the summit. Chief Judges of he U.S. Court of Appeals, representatives of USITC and government officials of the United States made a thorough policy analysis and gave guidance to ITC litigation. Gu Ping, as the only Chinese lawyer, gave a 45-minute speech on 337 litigation, which received warm welcome and attracted great attention from the USITC officials and the US court judges.
